The Lenders Network
Home loan comparison & education · not a lender
Independent loan comparison site — not a lender
Brand clarification

Is The Lenders Network a lender?

No. The Lenders Network is not a lender. We are a home loan comparison and education platform. Our role is to help you compare options from multiple independent mortgage lenders and brokers, not to approve or fund your loan. This independence is a strength: it lets lenders compete for your business while you stay in control.

  • ✓ We do not underwrite, approve, or fund mortgages — lenders in our network do.
  • ✓ We are not a bank, credit union, broker, or government agency.
  • ✓ We provide information, tools, and introductions so multiple lenders can compete to serve you.
  • ✓ Your loan terms and approval decision always come directly from the lender you choose.

For more detail on how our model works, see Loan Comparison Network, Partner Transparency, Service Disclaimer, and our Terms of Use.

Fast facts
What The Lenders Network does

We publish home loan education, calculators, and forms that connect you with independent mortgage lenders. You can use our content without requesting contact, or you can ask to be matched with one or more lenders that fit your profile.

Not a lender
Loan comparison & education
Lenders compete, you choose

We don’t charge you to use our site. We’re typically compensated by partners when we generate leads or traffic for them. That compensation never turns us into your lender.

Our role compared to mortgage lenders

Think of The Lenders Network as a matchmaker and educator, not as a mortgage company. Our primary functions are to:

  • Explain different types of home loans in plain language.
  • Offer tools that help you compare lenders and potential offers.
  • Connect you with independent lenders that operate in your state or area.

We do not:

  • Take formal mortgage applications in the way a lender or broker does.
  • Pull your credit report for the purpose of approving or denying a loan.
  • Set interest rates, closing costs, or underwriting guidelines.
  • Issue loan commitments, close loans, or service your mortgage.

Those responsibilities belong to the lender you ultimately work with. The Lenders Network is not a party to your mortgage note or deed of trust; instead, we’re the platform that helped you discover and compare your options.

Why “not a lender” is a strength, not a weakness

When you search directly with a single lender, you only see that lender’s products, pricing, and approval standards. Because The Lenders Network is not tied to any one lender, we can:

  • Show you information from multiple mortgage companies and loan programs.
  • Highlight tradeoffs (rates, fees, terms) across different lenders and loan types.
  • Give you room to compare and walk away if none of the offers fit your needs.

Our business works best when you see value in comparing and lenders see value in competing for your business. We don’t “lose a loan” if you choose one lender over another. That independence is the whole point of being a comparison site rather than a lender.

How we get paid without charging you lender fees

You do not pay The Lenders Network a fee to browse the site or to request that lenders contact you. Instead, we’re usually compensated by the lenders and service providers who participate in our network. Common arrangements include:

  • Fees when you click on certain partner links or buttons.
  • Fees when you submit a form and we send your information to one or more lenders as a lead.
  • Campaign or subscription fees for inclusion in specific comparison tools or featured placements.

These payments fund our platform and content. They do not turn us into your lender and do not mean we add “broker fees” or other line items to your loan. Any fees on your Loan Estimate or Closing Disclosure come from the lender and other parties to your transaction, not from The Lenders Network.

For more detail, see Partner Transparency and Advertising Disclosures.

How your information flows through our comparison platform

When you use our loan comparison tools, we explain what information we collect and how it may be shared. Typically, we ask for:

  • Basic contact information (such as name, phone number, email address).
  • Property details and goals (purchase vs. refinance, price range, location, timeline).
  • Self-reported information about income, credit profile, or budget range.

Based on what you share and what you consent to, we may send your information to one or more participating lenders that appear to fit your situation. Those lenders then contact you directly to discuss their loan programs and any potential offers.

We use your information to power a comparison and matching process. We do not use it to make credit decisions or issue loan approvals, because The Lenders Network is not a lender.

For more on data handling and your choices, review our Privacy Policy and Contact Preferences.

What The Lenders Network is not

To avoid confusion, it’s just as important to be explicit about what The Lenders Network is not:

  • We are not a mortgage bank, credit union, or direct lender.
  • We are not a mortgage broker that charges you broker fees for arranging a loan.
  • We are not a credit reporting agency or credit repair company.
  • We are not your legal, tax, or financial advisor.

Our materials are educational and comparative in nature. They are meant to help you ask better questions and compare more effectively, not to act as legal advice, tax guidance, or a promise of loan approval.

You should always rely on lenders’ own disclosures and, where appropriate, your own professional advisors when making mortgage decisions.

How to use The Lenders Network alongside direct lender shopping

The smartest way to use a comparison platform is to treat it as a starting point, not the end of your shopping process. We recommend that you:

  • Use our tools to identify several lenders that appear to fit your needs.
  • Request Loan Estimates from at least a few of them on the same day or close in time.
  • Compare interest rates, APRs, fees, and overall estimated cash to close across offers.
  • Consider getting at least one quote from a lender that is not in our network for context.

By doing this, you leverage our independence — the fact that we aren’t a lender — to create competition among lenders and improve your odds of finding an option that matches your priorities.

Who is your actual lender?

How to identify the lender on your loan

If you started your journey on The Lenders Network, it can sometimes be unclear which company is your actual lender. To confirm, look at:

• The company named as the creditor on your Loan Estimate and Closing Disclosure.
• The name on the promissory note and mortgage/deed of trust you sign at closing.
• The company sending you monthly mortgage statements after the loan closes.

That company — not The Lenders Network — is your lender. We may appear in your memory or in conversations as the place where you began your search, but we are not the creditor on your loan.
