The Lenders Network
Home loan comparison & education · not a lender
Independent loan comparison site — not a lender
Fair lending statement

Our commitment to fair, non‑discriminatory access.

The Lenders Network is a home loan comparison and education platform, not a lender. We do not make credit decisions, but we take fair lending seriously. This page explains how we support fair, lawful, and non‑discriminatory access to home loan information while connecting you with independent mortgage lenders.

Last updated: 2026

  • ✓ We do not underwrite, approve, or deny loans; lenders in our network do, under their own fair lending obligations.
  • ✓ We design our comparison tools to avoid targeting or excluding people based on protected characteristics.
  • ✓ We expect participating lenders to comply with applicable fair lending and fair housing laws.
  • ✓ We provide channels for feedback if you believe a lender obtained your information through us and treated you unfairly.

This Fair Lending page works together with our Is The Lenders Network a Lender?, Partner Transparency, and Service Disclaimer pages.

At a glance
Fair lending in a comparison context

As a comparison site, we don’t decide who gets a mortgage. We do control how we present information, how we route leads to lenders, and what we expect from partners. Our fair lending commitment focuses on those levers: access, transparency, and partner expectations.

Not a lender
Equal access to information
Zero tolerance for overt discrimination

Nothing on this page replaces your rights under applicable law or a regulator’s guidance. It describes how The Lenders Network approaches fair lending as a non‑lender platform.

1. What “fair lending” means for a loan comparison site

Laws and regulations about fair lending are primarily aimed at companies that make credit decisions or provide housing, such as mortgage lenders, brokers, banks, and landlords. The Lenders Network does not play that role. We:

  • Do not approve, deny, or price mortgage loans.
  • Do not issue Loan Estimates, Closing Disclosures, or servicing statements.
  • Do not decide whether you qualify for a particular loan program.

Instead, we provide education, tools, and introductions so that multiple lenders can compete for your business. In that context, “fair lending” for us means:

  • Not designing our site in ways that steer or exclude users based on protected traits.
  • Not using protected characteristics to decide who can see which content or tools.
  • Expecting participating lenders to follow applicable fair lending and fair housing laws.

2. Our non‑lender status and lender obligations

Because we’re not a lender, The Lenders Network is not the entity evaluating your credit or issuing your mortgage. Those responsibilities belong to the independent lender you choose. Those lenders are typically subject to fair lending and fair housing laws that prohibit discrimination in credit transactions.

Our expectations of lenders that receive leads from us include that they:

  • Maintain and follow their own fair lending and fair housing compliance programs.
  • Do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, marital status, age, receipt of public assistance, disability, familial status, or other protected characteristics under applicable law.
  • Provide required disclosures and adverse action notices where required.

We do not supervise or regulate lenders. We also cannot see every decision a lender makes. But we can choose who we work with and how we structure campaigns, and we can remove or review relationships where we see patterns that conflict with our commitments or applicable law.

For more about our partner relationships, see Advertising Disclosures and Partner Transparency.

3. How we use & do not use your information in matching

Matching is about product fit, not protected traits

When you fill out forms on The Lenders Network, we typically ask for information such as:

  • Basic contact details (name, email, phone number).
  • Property details (location, estimated price range, occupancy type).
  • Loan purpose (purchase vs. refinance, cash‑out or rate‑and‑term, etc.).
  • Estimated credit profile, income range, or budget.

We use that information to:

  • Determine which participating lenders may offer products in your state or region.
  • Route your inquiry to one or more lenders whose loan programs appear relevant.
  • Measure performance of our comparison tools.

We do not use protected characteristics such as race, religion, or national origin as matching criteria. We also do not design tools with the intent to favor or exclude any group protected by law.

Some information — such as property location or loan amount — is inherently part of mortgage eligibility, but it is not used by us to infer or target protected traits. Lenders may use that information under their own legal frameworks and guidelines.

4. Design choices that support fair, broad access

We make intentional design choices to promote broad, non‑discriminatory access to our content and tools. Examples include:

  • Open educational content: Our articles, guides, and many tools are available to all site visitors, regardless of any demographic or credit profile.
  • Clear disclosures: We provide pages like this one, our Service Disclaimer, and Is The Lenders Network a Lender? so you understand our role.
  • Consistent experiences: Features like rate ranges, lender overviews, and contact options are presented in ways that do not depend on protected traits.
  • Accessibility efforts: We work to make our site usable across devices and assistive technologies. See our Accessibility Statement for details.

We also periodically review how users move through our site to identify patterns that might suggest steering or unintended exclusion and adjust experiences where needed.

5. What we expect from advertisers and content partners

Lenders and other partners may appear in ads, sponsored placements, or co‑branded experiences. We expect those partners to:

  • Ensure that their ads and landing experiences comply with fair lending and fair housing laws.
  • Use any leads they receive from us in a manner consistent with their legal obligations.
  • Refrain from using discriminatory criteria that violate applicable law in their eligibility decisions.

Our internal review processes are not a substitute for regulatory oversight, and we do not independently audit lenders’ underwriting models. However, we reserve the right to pause or terminate campaigns, or to cease working with partners, when we become aware of conduct that is inconsistent with our expectations or applicable law.

For more context on how advertising and compensation work, see Advertising Disclosures.

6. If you believe you experienced discrimination from a lender

If you believe a lender who obtained your information through The Lenders Network has treated you unfairly or discriminated against you, you should:

  • Contact the lender directly and ask for an explanation of its decision or process.
  • Review any written notices you receive that explain reasons for denial or terms offered.
  • Document names, dates, and details of the interaction as accurately as possible.

You may also have the option to file a complaint with appropriate regulators or agencies. Their role is to investigate and enforce legal requirements, not ours. We are not a regulator and do not provide a formal appeals process for lender decisions.

The Lenders Network cannot overturn a lender’s decision or guarantee a specific outcome. We can, however, use your feedback to evaluate our relationship with that lender and to improve how we talk about our role.

If a lender mention or offer appeared on our site or you believe a lender obtained your information through us, you can also report your experience directly to The Lenders Network using the contact details below.

7. Our limitations and what this page does not do

It’s important to be clear about what this Fair Lending page does not do:

  • It does not create a contract, promise, or guarantee of any particular loan outcome.
  • It does not expand or reduce your legal rights under any fair lending or fair housing law.
  • It does not replace the disclosures or obligations of lenders that you apply with.
  • It does not mean we supervise or regulate lender conduct the way government agencies do.

This page is meant to explain, in plain language, how we think about fair access and what you can expect from The Lenders Network as a non‑lender comparison platform. It should be considered alongside our Terms of Use, Privacy Policy, and Service Disclaimer.

Know your rights

Examples of protected characteristics

Laws that govern fair lending and housing typically prohibit discrimination in credit transactions based on characteristics such as:

• Race or color
• National origin
• Religion
• Sex (and, under many laws, related characteristics)
• Marital status
• Age (if legally able to contract)
• Disability or handicap
• Familial status (such as having children)
• Receipt of certain types of public assistance

We do not use these characteristics in our matching logic, and we expect participating lenders to follow applicable laws relating to them.

Protected traits are off limits for targeting
If something feels off

Practical steps if you suspect unfair treatment

If you feel that something is “off” in an interaction with a lender, you can:

• Calmly ask the lender to explain its decision or criteria.
• Request copies of any written explanations or adverse action notices.
• Compare how you are treated with how other applicants are treated, if you can.
• Consider seeking legal advice or contacting relevant regulators.

Then, if the lender appears on or sourced you through The Lenders Network, you can send us a factual summary. Even when we cannot intervene directly, patterns in feedback help us evaluate partner behavior.

This page is not legal or compliance advice

This Fair Lending page is designed to explain our perspective and practices as a non‑lender comparison platform. It does not:

• Replace our Terms of Use or Privacy Policy.
• Interpret every law that might apply to you or to a lender.
• Create a supervisory or regulatory role for The Lenders Network.

If you need advice about whether your rights have been violated or what legal options you have, you should speak with a qualified attorney or appropriate consumer protection agency.
